Fragments of Becoming
A map drawn in hindsight: five phases of alignment, told through one man's own unraveling.
This is not a book to finish.
It is a book to return to. A fragment of poetry, written in the middle of it. The journey underneath that fragment, told plainly. A reflection on what the phase was actually doing. Then the Mirror Moment, where the questions turn toward you. The pages after the questions are blank on purpose. They are yours.
Write badly. Write the thing you have not said out loud. Nobody is grading it.
It begins in the dark
The silent ache. The one that whispers something's off even when life looks fine on the outside. The kid everyone called the light, honor roll every term, who was carrying buried pain, anger, and shame nobody saw. The mask that worked so well it convinced him too.
The question that followed him everywhere: what's wrong with me?
He did not know then that the question was not a curse. It was the invitation.
The Five Phases of Alignment
Phase I, The Darkness. Before light can return, everything false must fall away. This is the descent, where the masks crack and questions echo louder than answers. The darkness isn't punishment. It's the doorway.
Phase II, Finding My Worth. The slow rising. You start noticing how you abandoned yourself for approval, how you gave love freely but withheld it from your own heart. Forgiveness starts here, and it starts with you.
Phase III, Surrender into Faith. Control loosens its grip. You stop trying to understand everything and start trusting what you can't see. Surrender isn't weakness. It's wisdom.
Phase IV, Shedding Identity. The roles, the masks, the stories that kept you small start to fall away. Wholeness isn't becoming more. It's releasing what you are not.
Phase V, Embodiment. The return, not to who you were, but to who you have always been. Truth stops living in theory and starts breathing through your body, your words, your presence.
One man's actual story, not a framework
A father who left when he was young, and the walls that went up after. Fourteen years later, finding him, and four more years learning forgiveness. A sister's body, a grandfather two weeks after, a floor punched in a work truck, and not a word said about any of it.
An eleven-year marriage walked away from, not in anger but in acceptance. A Christmas alone that burned like fire, and a liquor store he turned around from, and a voice that said: you are never alone.
A rage he buried because he didn't want to be anything like his father, until it was a black tiger caged inside him. And the day he stopped fighting it and learned it was never the enemy. It was the part of him that would have fought back.
This is what makes the five phases something other than a diagram. You watch a man go through them.
A devotional, not a textbook
Each phase closes with the Mirror Moment: questions that turn the light around. Where in my life am I still pretending everything is fine? What promises have I broken to myself, and what would it look like to honor them again? What would surrender look like, not as giving up, but as giving in to divine flow?
Then blank pages. Room to answer. It is built to be worked slowly, one phase at a time, and returned to when the spiral brings you back around.
Who this is for
The man who has checked the boxes and feels the gap anyway. The man who has been everyone's support and never let himself be supported. The man who was told his feelings were too much, or too little, and has been performing a version of himself ever since.
You may find that one phase holds you longer than the others. Stay there. The phases are not a schedule, and you are not behind.

Questions
Is this a self-help book or a poetry collection?
Both, and neither. Each phase opens with a fragment of poetry written in the middle of it, then tells the story underneath in plain language, then turns the questions toward you. That rhythm is the whole book.
Do I need to do the writing part?
No. You can read it straight through and get something real from it. But the blank pages are where the phases become yours, and that is where most of the work happens.
How long does it take?
There is no schedule. One phase may hold you far longer than the others. The book says so directly: stay there, you are not behind.
Is it religious?
It is written by a man who went to God when he had run out of other options, and that thread runs through all five phases. It is not doctrine and not a church argument. It is one man's experience of faith alongside his own unraveling.
Is this therapy?
No. This is the author's personal account of his own journey, offered as reflection and encouragement, not medical or psychological advice. If you are struggling, please reach out to a qualified professional or someone you trust.
What format is it?
A digital book you can read on any device, with the reflection questions and journal space included. Yours to keep.
What is the refund policy?
Seven days. Read it, sit with it, and if nothing in it moves you, email [email protected] within 7 days and you will be refunded.
Is this connected to The 21-Day Immersion?
The book is the deeper, slower version of the same work. The Immersion walks you through 21 days with a guide alongside you. This is the one you read and write in. Many men start here and then go into the Immersion.
Refunds
If you read it and it does not move anything in you, email [email protected] within 7 days and you will be refunded.
